Inclusivity | Our inclusive organisation
We know that diversity helps us deliver a service that meets the needs of all our communities
We're committed to our people
We recognise that looking after our people is essential to delivering our purpose of ‘Making Derbyshire Safer Together’. To find effective solutions in the modern world, we need teams from a range of backgrounds, bringing their different thought processes and skills together. That’s why we offer a variety of roles and ways into the organisation. It’s the only way we can deliver a service that understands and meets the needs of all our communities.
To deliver excellent service, we’re dedicated to maximising your unique potential. So, we’re developing our plans for cultural change. The aim is to build a positive workplace that supports each individual to reach their full potential and invests in our leaders at every level.
Our community is incredibly diverse, so we should be, too. That’s why we’re working hard to build an inclusive workforce, where you can be yourself. Whoever you are. Wherever you’re from. We are currently under-represented in a number of areas and recognise that this message needs to reach talented individuals who can add diverse skills and experiences to our organisation.
If you are black or from an ethnic minority, or if you identify as LGBT+, or have a disability, or if you are female and would like to hear more about becoming a police officer and the support we can offer you please contact us.

We embrace our cultural diversity
We police by consent, which means we need to be trusted by all Derbyshire’s communities. That’s why cultural diversity is essential. And it’s why we’re committed to increasing diversity at every rank and grade by attracting and developing people from the widest range of backgrounds.
To reflect the communities we serve, we take a range of positive action measures when we’re recruiting. These aim to take away or reduce barriers that some cultural groups face when they look to work for us. We also support a number of staff support networks for people who are already part of the policing family.
Join us and you’ll need to promote equality and diversity in all you do, every day. And you’ll find our flexible policies and practices meet your individual needs, while supporting our values and ethos.
