Derbyshire Constabulary has transitioned to a new Digital, Data and Technology model, that delivers customer centric solutions, combining data and digital technologies.

We are looking for a Data Architect, on a full-time permanent basis, to contribute to improving processes, data management and governance, using Agile structured approaches.

The Data Architect is a key team member developing the overarching Data Strategy for use across the whole organisation ensuring that any data held is available where needed, defines and understand the meta data and taxonomy of data, bringing data architectural skills to a range of projects that are of strategic importance to the Force. The role requires expert technical skills combined with a detailed knowledge of business processes to identify opportunities where current and emerging database and information management technologies can be engineered. Architect data solutions that deliver significant tangible business benefits and associated value to the Force

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the ongoing implementation, architecture and delivery against the strategic and operational information management and collaboration requirements of the Force
  • Act as a Technical Consultant, working with Solution and Technical architects to make sure the Force’s systems are designed in accordance with the appropriate architectures.
  • Define and maintain the data technology architecture, including metadata, integration and business intelligence or data warehouse architecture.
  • Design, support and provide guidance for the upgrade, management, decommission and archive of data in compliance with data policy.

The must haves

  • A Degree or demonstrable work experience
  • Experience in seeing the Big Picture and supporting organisational objectives, in moving to a digitally excellent organisation.
  • Proven experience of designing Data Architecture within a secure network ensuring compliance to accreditation regimes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Database languages and data representation tools (e.g. SQL, Oracle, R)

Salary £50,109 - £58,062

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
