What you could be doing | Chief Superintendent
Shape the future of policing in Derbyshire
An introduction from our Chief Constable
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Chief Superintendent in Derbyshire Constabulary. I have served as Chief Constable for over two years, having previously served as Derbyshire’s Deputy, and I know we really are a great organisation to work for, and that we have the potential to be one of the very best in the country.
Our people are at the heart of how we deliver our services within Derbyshire. As a member of our Chief Officer team, you will have a key role in ensuring we maintain high standards and deliver a professional service.
My focus as Chief Constable is on delivering a consistently first-rate service to all of our communities – fighting crime, proactively bringing offenders to justice, looking after victims and protecting the vulnerable from harm – these are most of the things that drew us to policing in the first place after all. I am looking for a member of my team who can help me achieve this and also somebody that has the drive, determination and passion to help deliver the improvements we need to make for the benefit of all of the communities of Derbyshire.
Without the support of the people of Derbyshire we simply cannot succeed. You can expect to find yourself working in an organisation that respects our communities and strives to be responsive and receptive to their concerns and needs. I expect that you will have an implicit understanding of the need to deliver highly-valued visible policing to our communities, whilst also tackling the harm caused by less visible, but nevertheless extremely serious, criminality such as modern slavery and the online sexual exploitation of children and other vulnerable persons.
I am passionate about equality, fairness and transparency, both internally and in the services that we deliver. In Derbyshire Constabulary we value each other, the roles we play and the differences that we bring, enabling us to focus upon building a high-level of trust with all of our communities. I expect that you will be passionate about these matters, understanding how we can ensure effective service delivery with our partners and the importance of fulfilling our purpose of making Derbyshire safer together, for everyone.
I am really pleased to be part of the team guiding Derbyshire Constabulary on this exciting journey into the 21st century, and I hope that you will join me and my colleagues in making a real difference for the people of our beautiful County.

Working for Derbyshire
A diverse county
Derbyshire Constabulary has a strong and unequivocal commitment to delivering a high-quality policing service for everyone in Derbyshire – whether for our one million residents or our 10 million visitors to the Peak District.
Whilst our urban areas present some challenging policing problems, Derbyshire is a predominantly rural area, much of it within the Peak District National Park, offering opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle and an enhanced quality of life. Our central location, with excellent transport links, makes us accessible from most areas of the country and a generous relocation package is available for our successful candidate.
