Are you passionate about solving crime and driven by strong investigative instincts?

We’re inviting applications from Constables to join our Missing Persons Exploitation Investigation Team as a Missing Persons Investigator.

You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for conducting thorough investigations into missing persons cases, working under the direction of the Missing Persons Investigation Supervisors.

Your work will play a key part in safeguarding vulnerable individuals and uncovering the truth behind each case.

You must be PIP1 accredited and successfully completed your probationary period.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Investigate all missing persons incidents, from handover by LPU to return home interviews (where resources allow, provide the first response to missing person enquiries).
  • Administer compact and manage records, ensuring the submission of appropriate intelligence and referrals to partner agencies.
  • Work with partners agencies and Children’s home to effectively reduce missing incidents and reports, especially to repeat missing including the adherence to the Philomena Protocols.
  • Conduct proactive work in terms of visits to potential perpetrators, including proactive checks on Child Abduction Warning Notices (CAWNs).

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.

Please ensure you meet the transferee eligibility requirements which are:-

  • Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force). 
  • Have a full manual driving licence.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Be confirmed in rank
